Program Description

As many in the financial industry know, over the last 10 years, the role of the CFO has changed. Gone are the days when the CFO was simply a numbers person who supplied others with data to set and implement strategic decisions. Today, the CFO could be responsible for additional areas within the institution such as operations, HR and strategic planning.

The transition to CFO is one that could be in the works for many years or could be the result of an unexpected opening. When you step into the role of CFO, you want to be ready to hit the ground running. During the transition, its normal for three buckets to arise: What I know, What I know I don’t know and What I don’t know I don’t know.

FMS and Piper Sandler are proud to launch the Pathway to CFO program. Join us for this two-hour session that will explore the role of the CFO and provide additional insight and visibility into the area’s managed by the CFO.

Attendees will take away from this this first session insight into the budget management process with guidance into the how, why and final budget and approval for the following year.


Presenter

Scott Hildenbrand
Managing Director, Head of Piper Sandler Financial Strategies and Piper Sandler Hedging Services, LLC

Scott Hildenbrand is a managing director and the head of the financial strategies group at Piper Sandler.

Previously, he was a principal and chief balance sheet strategist of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. He headed the balance sheet analysis and strategy group, working with financial institutions on balance sheet strategy development, which includes interest rate risk management, investment portfolio strategy, retail and wholesale funding management, capital planning, budgeting, and stress testing. Hildenbrand also worked closely with the firm’s investment banking group to identify and develop strategic opportunities for clients involved in mergers and acquisitions.

Hildenbrand previously worked in Sandler O’Neill’s interest rate products group, focusing on developing and implementing structured wholesale funding strategies for financial institutions. He spent his first four years at the firm in the asset/liability management group. Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill in 2004, Hildenbrand worked as a financial analyst in asset/liability management at Tower Federal Credit Union in Maryland.

Hildenbrand serves as treasurer on the board of directors for Liam’s Room, a not-for-profit organization that focuses on pediatric palliative care, a specialized approach to medical care for children with serious illnesses.

He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Loyola College in Maryland and a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting and finance from Gettysburg College.

Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellations will be issued after completed request form is returned to FMS via [email protected] Refunds minus a $250 processing fee will be issued and may take 30 days to process. Should you be unable to attend and want to transfer registration to a co-worker, additional costs could apply. FMS reserves the right to change instructors or reschedule/cancel session when necessary.
