Leaders become great by developing their skills and behaviors over time. They learn from their mistakes and the mistakes of others. Leaders grow into their positions. Working as a leader is hard work. It requires focus and does not happen overnight. Leaders grow methodically over time and build their strengths and weaknesses through professional and real-life experiences. We will look at behaviors and traits that help younger and experienced professionals become strong leaders.

Bill Wald
President and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Managers Society

Mr. Wald is a Chicago Area native; he held the position as CEO of the Minneapolis Area REALTORS®, the largest Realtor® Board in Minnesota and 24th largest in the Country. He served as CEO of the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO®), Senior Director of Business and Professional Development, Standards, Membership and Foundation for the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and the CEO of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. Bill was named to the Inman’s Top 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders for the Government Sector with honorees as Former Federal Chairman Ben Bernanke.

Mr. Wald earned his MBA in Economics and Finance from Northwestern University, as well as attended Benedictine University and Western Illinois University. He has extensive knowledge of public policy and is involved with a number of Foundations and Associations. He served as a local public official in Illinois and has spoken at numerous Conferences, Conventions and Universities on topics from project management and leadership to veterans’ issues.
